Three Pillars of Business
The main business line of PT Krakatau Daya Listrik (PT KDL) is electricity generation with a total generating capacity of 120 MW. The uniqueness of the plant owned by PT KDL is able to serve the load fluctuations needed by factories in the Krakatau Industrial Estate. PT KDL's biggest electricity consumer is the national steel manufacturing plant, PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk. In addition, all Krakatau Steel Group industries and business facilities, as well as general consumers in the Krakatau Industrial Estate, which consists of various groups, ranging from households, hotels to industrial groups, become electricity users produced by PT KDL.
PT KDL's Electricity generation used Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) 120 MW technology or commonly known as Steam Gas Power Plant which consists of two gas turbine generators, two Heat Recovery Steam Generators and one Steam Turbine Generator. The main fuel of PT KDL's CCPP is Natural Gas. PT KDL guarantees the quality of electrical energy produced according to industry standards. For this reason, PT KDL created a compensator system to maintain voltage stability.
In addition to providing electricity supply, PT KDL also serves the needs of customers relating to various electrical problems and is divided into three main segments namely services related to the operation and maintenance of power plants; Electrical Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC); and Workshop Services.
The development of national policies related to the issue of global warming, PT KDL began to move into the new and renewable energy business. The national energy mix that is transformed from fossil energy into new and renewable energy is an opportunity that PT KDL has achieved to increase the company's competence and income. As a first step, PT KDL will build and operate a PLTS Rooftop with a capacity of 102 kWp in July 2020. The PLT built on PT KDL's mainstation is connected on grid to the KDL electricity network. In the future, various new and renewable energy alternatives will be developed and the service options provided to consumers to be able to switch.
